The charming seafood restaurant, Humarhöfnin (The Lobster harbor,) is situated by the harbor in the small fishing village Höfn on the outskirts of Vatnajökull National Park.
Here you can enjoy the Icelandic lobster/langoustine while watching the splendid view of the boats in the docks from our windows or sit on our patio on a sunny day with a meal and a refreshing drink and enjoy the lovely scenery. If you prefer something else from the menu we, of course, serve Icelandic lamb, arctic char and lots of other delicious courses.
Fun facts about Humarhofnin
We love langoustine so much that we had an artist friend of ours make us a sculpture we call Langastína, the langoustine goddess. True to old Nordic tradition we perform ceremonies at the beginning of the fishing season were we offer sacrifices to our goddess in the form of feasting on langoustine and white wine and pray to her for endless supplies of this delicious food. (See ceremony photo in media gallery).
Linda MFabulous dinner
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous meal at Humarhofnin. It was our first time trying langoustine and the friendly waitress recommended that the tails would be easier to eat than the whole langoustine. They were prepared perfectly, absolutely melted in the mouth. The salad accompanying the langoustine was delicious as well. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We had the lobster soup (amazing) and lobster tale (even better). They were busy so we needed to chill upstairs for 15mins before a table was ready.
Food service was quick, waiters were attentative and atmosphere was great.
Ong MGreat service and delicious food
We ordered the Langoustine tails as the place is supposedly famous for it. Very tasty indeed! Service was really good. Price wise is as expensive as anywhere in Iceland. But for the good quality food and service, it’s pretty worth the price.
There are many seafood restaurant in Höfn and we choose this restaurant. We ordered two dishes. Lobster and lamb. It’s delicious and large portion. Service was excellent!
RinachaVery Delicious Langoustine Tails
My husband and I were told that Hofn exported lobsters to several countries. We asked our driver to take us to where he considered the best seafood place in town and this was where he dropped us off. The food didn’t disappoint. The grilled langoustine tails were delicious even without the accompanying two sauces (very different and both very tasty). The waitress who took care of our table was young and really nice. I would definitely love to go back again.
