A 4-hour glacier hike on crampons on Svínafellsjökull, part of the great Vatnajökull Glacier in Skaftafell National Park.

This is a moderate glacier tour in the majestic landscape of Svínafellsjökull, surrounded by some of Iceland’s most spectacular peaks. On this glacier adventure we go further onto the glacier, traversing zones of different glacial formations. Your experienced guide will lead you through ice sculptures, ridges and the deep crevasses, and tell you everything about the ever-changing formations of this frozen giant. The panoramic view of the glacier, its dramatic ice fall and the surrounding peaks, combined with the unique experience of glacier ice under your feet, is sure to leave lasting memories.

Duration: 4 hrs in total, 3½ hrs on ice

This was by far our favorite activity in Iceland. Thorsten was an amazing guide. We hiked up and down the glacier for four hours – and had the opportunity to hike within an ice cave. We have done glacier walks in the past at other places but they do not compare to this experience.

We did a 4 hour glacier adventure hike. The tour is a well oiled machine for getting participants outfitted and ready for the hike. This where Àgúst took over. He clearly loved what he did. He educated as we hiked the glacier. We had a great time, learned how to hike a glacierwith crampons/ ice axe and came back with awesome pictures and memories despite the rainy weather. Next time I will sign up for the even longer tour.

We (2 adults and 2 kids), took a Svinafellsjokull Glacier walk tour (BlueIce Experience). We had a wonderful time! Our guide, Jerry, was absolutely the best: very professional, courteous, fun, and informative. I really appreciated the fact that he did not rush us, allowed plenty of time for pictures, and for just admiring the scenery. The glacier is absolutely amazingly beautiful, and the hike was super fun for my kids, and was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. Highly recommend.
