The perfect tour for smaller time budgets
Ice Cave Tour
This tour is the perfect way to experience a natural ice cave if you have a more limited budget and time constraints that do not accommodate a longer expedition. Meet your private guide at Jökulsárlón and enjoy the half-hour super jeep drive over a landscape that may very well be the moon. On this tour we will be able to drive very close to the ice cave, so that there is only a short and easy walk from the vehicle to the cave. Perfectly doable for people of all ages and abilities!
Inside the cave, your guide will explain the fascinating mechanisms behind glaciers, ice caves, and the wonderful colors we see. He will of course also assist you in taking any number of memorable photos!
If you feel like venturing a bit higher onto the ice, your guide will also take you on a short walk higher up onto the glacier, where more points of interest await. Or, you can choose to spend all available time inside the cave.
Private super jeep drive to the cave
Your own experienced mountain guide to show you around inside the cave and on the glacier
Crampons (microspikes) and helmets, and any other safety equipment that may be required for the cave visit
What do I need to bring?
Good footwear is highly recommended (ankle high or higher boots; sneakers or other light shoes are not ideal)
Warm clothing; gloves
Total duration approximately 2.5 hours.
On this tour we will be visiting one of the more popular ice caves, and while you will have a private guide throughout the tour, we will almost certainly not have the cave for ourselves.
You can start this activity at the following places; Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Vyjayanthi VSUPERB, awe-inspiring, heartwarming
Stephan was such a caring and lovely guide- his care for us, from the many parks visited, to his lovely home stay, to the unbelievably awesome glacier hike and ice cave – it felt like a fantasy world. The entire experience moved me so much that I burst out crying of joy and sadness of parting when we left the tour. I cannot wait to go back again on a tour with Stephan. What an experience.
GirlsGuideFounderStephan is an amazing guide!
On a fairly warm day considering it was April in Iceland, Stephan led myself and 3 others in my family to the glacier and we actually walked on it. It was an inspiring, truly awesome experience, one of the best we had during our 10 day trip to Iceland.
What I liked most about Stephan’s tour was the knowledge and intelligence he brought to the experience. He teaches you to really respect the glacier and you’ll walk away learning a lot more about it. He has a particular reverence for nature that is infectious. Of course he is well versed in safety as he also serves on the safety rescue team in the area. You couldn’t be in better hands than with Stephan as your guide.
